Interlock Repair vs New Interlock Installation
The question to ask is “should I get my interlock restored or should I get some brand new interlock installed?
I think this might take a while.
Let’s start at the beginning…..
You have an interlock patio.
It is starting to not look so good.
There are parts that are sinking in towards the foundation and causing water to puddle.
There are parts that are creeping outwards. Those parts no longer have nice clean polymeric sand, just dirt and some angry looking weeds.
You patio is no longer a nice place for hosting a BBQ or a sipping a glass of wine as you watch the sunset.
You would rather sun bathe on the lawn than amongst the weeds that put out little tendrils to grab your legs.
This situation is all too common.
So you talk to your spouse. You both are agreed. You bought this new place because you liked having an outdoor living space. Yet you don’t have an outdoor living space. So something must be done.
What must be done?
Now is when we get to the handy dandy checklist I have prepared.
Do you want the outdoor living space to be larger than the one you currently have?
Are the pavers themselves in bad condition?
Do you want to add any new feature like a interlock fire pit or stone barbeque?
Do you like spending all your money?
If you answered yes to those four questions, you should get all new interlock.
If you answered no, there is no reason to get new interlock. If you answered yes to some questions and no to others, I cannot help you anymore. 🙁
I guess you will have to make a decision on your own.
What I am trying to say is this: if your interlock is in reasonable condition, and you don’t want to change it too much, but want it to look and feel better, than you should get it cleaned up and repaired.
However, if the blocks are in poor condition, and you want to expand the patio, and spend a bunch of money to make your outdoor living space luxurious and impress your neighbors and friends, then going with new interlock block is the option for you!
